Just as it aired back on TV back in 1989, this Sesame Street special is presented in 1.33:1 full screen. The special certainly looks its age with this transfer, as it is a bit on the soft side. Fleshtones for the human participants are fine, but color saturation in general — be it on the famous street itself or the muppets — looks a bit dull and muted. There is a good deal of mosquito noise, and background detail is hardly refined. It's watchable and nothing's overly distracting, but this is far from pristine.

Also, as it aired back on TV in the day, this special features a English Stereo track. It's a bit better than the transfer, but is nothing too special. There is no distrotion with this track thankfully: all the dialogue and musical cues come in rather crisp, with no hisses or defects. The track is clearly limited, but there's a sparse effect here and there. The music — namely the opening number and the special guest musical performances — have a bit of life to them. It's suitable, but it's important to keep the context of age and that this is not some full blown special edition release in mind.

Nothing.

This is a nice, informative and fun special that celebrates the first two decades of one of the most iconic television programs of all time. It is a bit dated now, but young and old Sesame Street fans should enjoy this. There are no supplements and the video/audio presentation is what you'd expect, but the pricing is certainly fair.
