"Lorna's Silence" is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. Save for some softness and some little marks, this is a fairly strong and consistent transfer. Black levels are solid and fleshtones are spot-on. Detail is quite good, and color saturation is well-rendered: it's pretty bold and fitting so it's never underwhelming, but there's an earthy feel to this transfer that highlights this personal story. Quite good, overall.

There's not too much to say about the French Dolby Digital 5.1 track. The film is dialogue heavy. Thankfully though, all the speaking comes out very firm, centered and clear in this mix. Subwoofer use and musical presence is rather limited, and sound effects tend to be on the small side. While they won't do a lot to your home theater, they make a subtle impact in how they sound and where they're placed: footsteps, car doors opening and the like do sound good. A more than acceptable track for this movie.

Subtitles in English are included.

The Theatrical Trailer is included, as are many previews for other Sony Pictures Classics releases.

"Lorna's Silence" is a pretty intriguing character piece, and fans of filmmakers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne ("L'Efant") should be sure to check this one out. Extras are non-existant, but the film's presentation is pretty nice. The price is a bit high, so a rental should probably do.
