This sixth season of "Def Poetry" is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen. Given that the series is more or less exclusively confined to one stage, there's not much to say about changing visuals. But what you see looks pretty sharp: detail is fine, color saturation of people's clothes look pretty good and fleshtones look pretty accurate.

"Def Poetry" is presented in English Dolby Surround. There's not much to mention here: audience laughter and cheers give the tracks a little bit of energy to make you feel like you're at these performances, while the dialogue sprouting from the poets and performers is very clear and easy to hear. (Which, of course, is the most important thing of all.) Straightforward and nice - and that's all you can ask for.

English closed captions are included via your TV set.

Nothing.

You get a lot of unique poetry in this two-disc set, so fans who enjoy this long-running and popular series will certainly get their money's worth. The episodes look and sound pretty good, but there are no extras to speak of. Purists of the original broadcasts be warned: apparently some of the episodes have been edited a little.
