Tosh: Happy Thoughts" is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen.
This is a stand-up set, so there's not too much to say: Tosh's
fleshtone looks fine, the detail and color satuation of the stage area
looks decent and the video quality is pretty sharp. More than
watchable, and that's all that counts.
DVD includes an English stereo track. Not much to mention here either:
Tosh is audible and clear, and is never drowned out by the audience
laughter and applause. Speaking of which, the audience's reactions come
through punchy and discrete. Straightforward, and nothing more.
English closed captions are included.
fans will surely love the extras here. First up, you can watch the
Comedy Central version of the special (which is a few minutes shorter),
but why bother? Extra material comes in the way of an Encore — that means more material — that runs over 11 minutes. Day In The Life follows
Daniel Tosh at work on his hit Comedy Central series: filming, getting
food, working with his writers and assorted non-sense. Interesting to
see, and entertaining.
Also as a bonus, we get sets from the Opening Acts: Jasper Redd and Matt Fulchiron. Each run about 10 minutes.
Tosh's humor may not be for everyone, but if you enjoy his irreverant
Comedy Central series, you'll likely enjoy this special. "Happy
Thoughts" is a solid set of material, and the DVD is solid too: a good
presentation, and some nice extras. Fans of the comic should have no
qualms picking up a copy.
