Short Update... with X-Men DVD News!
Not so much new today. Anthony has written a splendind
review of
Marnie
which I think all of you should read, and I have written up
a review of the soon-to-be discontinued
Wallace
& Gromit, because of the new BBC/Warner partnership.
Anyhow, I do have some great release news today. First
off, I should mention I have confirmed that the audio
commentary on Chicken Run (made by Aardman, those
behind
Wallace
& Gromit) will be with Peter Lord and Nick Park,
just as I hoped. Again, the disc is due out 11/21 in R1 for
$26.99. Check out
yesterday
for more details. And for all you eager fans of the movie
(such as myself), here's a box art picture for your
enjoyment (it seems pretty packed, I'm surprised it's not in
Dreamworks' "Signature Selection" series):
Next, a really anticipated title, is X-Men, this
past summer's box office smash hit. I didn't see the film
myself, but a lot of my friends did and loved it, and it
earned some pretty good reviews. Anyhow, it's also due on
November 21st. There will be six deleted DVD exclusive
scenes, 10 minutes of deleted footage, 170 Concept Art
Stills, Two Animatics, Hugh Jackman's Screen Test, a
featurette, excerpts of director Bryan Singer on Charlie
Rose and more soon to be announced. Does sound like a
fantastic disc as of now, and will be priced at a nice
29.98. There has been a lot of anticipation for this disc,
and it will seem worth it. Fox has been blessing us with
some great special editions and such lately, so be on the
look out...
Finally, on November 7th, The Straight Story, last
Fall's small criticially acclaimed hit from David Lynch,
will be released (yeah, David Lynch doing a G rated film).
Anyhow, the specs are due soon, and it will be priced at the
usual odd Disney price of $32.99. There has been some
anticipation for this disc as well.
On another note, I'm sure you'll be happy to learn
Leon/The Professional International Cut will be
shipping to stores next week, with a remastered soundtrack.
Many complained surrounds sounded incredibly soft during the
original mid-August release, so you better get on line to
return your copy. Heh, now I'm glad I waited to purchase the
disc.
Well, that's it for today. The weekend is almost here!
You can expect a bunch of new reviews this weekend, so be on
the lookout for those. Well, see ya soon.
