Weekend Box Office, Video Game Reviews Up
It was another weekend at the box office where the
Grinch stole it, coming in first place with a very
nice 18.6 million. The film should cross 200 million next
week, and will most likely be the highest grossing film of
the year. Climbing its way to second place (sorry for the
joke) came Veritcal Limit with a respectable 15.5
million. In third was Proof Of Life with a decent
10.2 million, but it appears the whole Meg Ryan/Russell
Crowe affair didn't really help it out to gain more of an
audience. In fourth was Unbreakable with 7.5 million
and seems it won't reach "Sixth Sense" numbers, but may very
well gross over 100 million, which is quite good. New Line's
Dungeons and Dragons opened to pans from critics
everywhere, and a lackluster 7.2 million. 102 Dalmatians
made 6.2 and won't be a smash hit as Disney had hoped,
while in seventh Rugrats in Paris: The Movie made
about four million. Meet The Parents held steady in
eighth place with three million, Charlie's Angels in
ninth with 2.6 and Bounce with 2.5 million. A pretty
good weekend at the box office, if I say so myself.
In other box office news, Crouching Tiger, Hidden
Dragon made a whopping 687,000 dollars in only several
theaters from New York City and Canada. This is incredibly
impressive. I saw the film over the weekend and loved it.
While I think it is a bit too arty and spiritual to cross
into mainstream, it's truly one of the best films of the
year. The acting is great and so are the incredible, well
put together fight sequences. When it opens up in your area
during the next few weeks, be sure to catch it. It's like
nothing you've ever seen before...
Now, you may have noticed this site is no longer just
doing Playstation reviews. I decided to just make a full
blown out Video Game
Review section. Now not only you can read reviews of
new and popular Playstation and Playstation 2 video games,
there are some for various other systems and there will be
for more to come. So enjoy those, and look for that part to
slowly expand.
With this new section, someone approached me about doing
reviews, and sure enough, his sample review was very well
written and detailed. So let us all welcome Angelo C.
to DVDlaunch. For now he will be covering video games, but
later on he will be reviewing DVDs. Be sure to read his
Driver
2 review for Playstation. FUNKY!
That's it for now... expect some more reviews in the
upcoming week. You may have noticed last Friday I posted a
review of
The
Road To El Dorado, so check that out if you haven't
already. See you soon everyone!
