Cat On A Hot Tin Mansion
In a very close
weekend box office race, The Cat In The Hat took
first place again with 24.4 million, just edging out Eddie
Murphy's latest kiddie film The Haunted Mansion which
took in 24.2 million. Still, the news was great again for
Elf with 21.6 million - going up from last weekend.
It seems Will Ferrell's hit will be the true champ of the
family films this season.
Going down to
fourth place was Gothika which made another 12.8
million while the mean holiday comedy Bad Santa took
in a strong 12.2 million - and has made about 17 million
since last Wednesday. The news was still decent for
Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World which
pulled in another 12 million over the weekend and has made
nearly 70 million dollars.
Ron Howard's
directorial follow-up to "A Beautiful Mind," The
Missing, had a decent start with 10 million and has made
15 million since last Wednesday. The news was pretty bad for
Timeline which had awful reviews and with a meager
8.4 million for the weekend, it means it's another bomb for
Paramount this year (apparently it cost 80 million to make).
Rounding out the top was Love Actually with 8.2
million and Disney's Brother Bear with 4.8
million.
Can Tom Cruise
slash the competition next weekend? Stay tuned DVD
fans!
