Harry Potter And The Chamber Of $uccess
Like you really
expected otherwise? Of course, Harry Potter And The Chamber Of
Secrets
took the number one spot over the weekend with a staggering
88.4 million dollars. While reviews were better this time
around, I personally found the film similar in fashion to
the last one (decent). Still, Pottermania shows no signs of
slowing down. Whether this one will top the first one's
original gross of nearly 320 million remains to be seen, but
I predict that it will come close.
In second, last
week's champ 8 Mile took a surprisingly large drop with
19.3 million. I guess it's not the type of movie everyone is
flocking back to, as probably much of the film's core
audience went and saw it opening weekend. The Santa Clause 2
held steady
with 15.1 million, while The Ring took in another 10.6 million. The
weekend's only other new release, the Steven "I'm not dead!"
Segal action flick, Half Past Dead took in a rather dismal 7.8
million.
My Big Fat Greek
Wedding is
about to cross 200 million finally, but is slowing down with
only a 4.7 million take over the weekend. Jackass: The
Movie and
the bomb I
Spy made
3.8 million each. Frida and Sweet Home Alabama close this weekend's
interesting top ten with 2.9 and 2.2 million,
respectively.
Next week... will
007 make more than uh... 007? Stay tuned, DVD fans!
