Record "INC."
And so the holiday
movie season takes off! The latest epic from Disney and
Pixar, Monsters, INC. (which I saw and really,
really enjoyed) took the spot for the weekend with a record
breaking 62.5 million (!). This is truly amazing,
considering children's ticket prices are cheaper than
adults... but I'm sure a lot of adults got dragged with
them. This is the biggest animated opening ever, not to
mention the biggest November opening ever (can "Harry
Potter" beat it?).
In a far but very
respectable second, was The One. Jet Li's latest opened to poor
reviews, but a fine take of 19.1. In third was newcomer
Domest
Disturbance with 14 million, K-PAX with 10 and 13 Ghosts with 7.8 million.
Riding In Cars
With Boys
hung on with 4 million, while From Hell is going down there with only 3.5
million. Training Day made 3 million,
Bandits
2.8 and
finally, Serendipity with 2.3.
Be sure to check
out my review of Shrek. Have a good week everyone
and watch as we pass the big 400!
