First "Clause"
A Christmas movie
the first day after Halloween? Has the world gone topsy
turvy? Well, in this case it's a good thing. The sequel to
the 1994 holiday hit, The Santa Clause 2, took in a pretty
impressive 29 million over the weekend. This one should
certainly perform pretty well in the coming weeks. But I
guess you can't blame Disney right? They have a wizard to
deal with in two weeks or so, and I bet for those who can't
see him will flock to their sequel instead.
In second and quite
impressive was The Ring with 18.1 million, but things weren't
good for I
Spy which
debuted with poor reviews and a 12.8 opening take. Right
behind it was Jackass: The Movie with 12.7 million and the
horror film Ghost Ship, flooding in with 6.7 million.
My Big Fat Greek
Wedding
still took in 5.6 million more, while Sweet Home
Alabama
took in 4.6 million. Punch-Drunk Love made 4 million, while
Red
Dragon
(which probably won't even make it to 100 million!) and
Brown
Sugar took
the last two top ten spots with 2.7 and 1.7 million,
respectively.
Next week, prepare
for a white rapper beating the odds...
