"Scary" Stuff
Not surprisingly,
Scary Movie 3 topped the box office over the weekend.
Pretty surprisingly, it made 48.1 million dollars - setting
a new opening weekend record for the month of October
(besting last year's Hannibal prequel "Red Dragon"). This
has surely revived the questionable franchise, as a "Scary
Movie 4" is already in the works with Zucker helming once
again.
Taking a steep
drop, the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre took
in 14.4 million, but should hold up next weekend. The new
family drama Radio survived critical scathes and took
in 13.3 million, while Runaway Jury only took a
slight dip this weekend with 8.4 million.
In fifth was Clint
Eastwood's Mystic River while The School Of Rock
dropped to sixth with 6.5 million. Kill Bill: Vol.
1 brought in another 6.3, while Good Boy! may be
the fall's sleeper family hit as it added another 5 million
to its tally. Rounding out the top were Intolerable
Cruelty with 3.6 million and Under The Tuscan Sun
with 2.2 million.
