The One "Ring"
Despite positive
sneak preview reactions from filmgoers and mixed film
reviews, The
Ring shot
to number one with 15 million over the weekend, certainly a
strong debut. Sweet Home Alabama continued to be strong with
9.6 million, while Red Dragon dropped again as it loses its bite
with 8.8 million. My Big Fat Greek
Wedding
pulled in 7.1 million, while there was a tie between
Brown
Sugar and
the new thriller Abandon (from Stephen Gaghan, the Oscar®
winning writer of "Traffic"), each with 5.3 million.
The two action
flicks, The
Transporter and The Tuxedo took in 5 and 4.3 million. Finally,
two family films, Jonah: A Veggietales
Movie and
Tuck
Everlasting
each brought in another 4.1 and 3.7 million each. November's
just around the corner, and the movie season will soon be
heating up...
