Jeepers!
A pretty surprising box office this week, with Jeepers
Creepers leading the way with a nice box office of 15.8
million, a record for a movie debuting on Labor Day weekend.
For two and three, Rush Hour 2 and American Pie
2 were neck and neck with 11.8 and 11.7 each. The
Others and Rat Race also held steady and strong
with 10 million and 9.2 million.
The Princess Diaries also held on with 7.6
million, while O made 6.9 over the long weekend, a
good amount considering the controversy as well as the
number of theaters. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,
Summer Catch and Captain Corelli's Mandolin
each continued to slip with 6.4 million, 5 million and 4.1
million.
So the summer is over, with interesting movie making
trends and another record breaking year. A complete summer
wrap-up next week... it was quite a season. So as the kids
go back to school and this summer ends, we look forward to a
tight fall... stay tuned!
