Happy 3rd Anniversary DVDlaunch!

Yep, yesterday marked our third year anniversary. Like always, it's crazy how time flies and I personally can't believe the site has been up, running and going this strong for so long. Nonetheless, it's been another great year for DVDs and this site, and I'd like to thank everybody who continues to check back all the time, read the reviews, enter the contests, spread the word about the site and those who continue to support it (studios, companies, and most importantly, the fan). This year is going to mark some interesting additions and changes to DVDlaunch, and I have a good feeling about all of that, so keep visiting! The content on this site, way things are done and perhaps even the design are all going to expand, and will mark a bigger push forward for this website.

The summer box office offically ended this weekend, with record breaking haul for the horror sequel Jeepers Creepers 2, which scared up 18.3 million over the three-day weekend (for those keeping score, the original broke the same record when it was released two years ago). Shooting back up to second and passing the 90 million mark was one of the summer's few sleepers, Freaky Friday with 12.6 million. In third was Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl with 10.8 million (and closing on the gross for "The Matrix Reloaded" fast).

In fourth was S.W.A.T. with 10.7 million and crossing 100 million, while Open Range also made 10.7 million. Seabiscuit took in another 9 million, while Freddy Vs. Jason dropped to seventh with 8.6 million. Rounding out the top ten were The Medallion, Uptown Girls and American Wedding with 6.2, 5.6 and 4.7 each.

With summer over, and one of the weakest in recent memory as far as critical reception and grosses, this fall is bound to shape up with a lot of hits - and hopefully, much better films. What will happen between now and the end of December? As always, stay tuned DVD fans!
