Another Slice Of Pie
Universal is doing really good this summer, and as
expected, American Pie 2 took the top spot with a
large serving of 45.1 million dollars. In second was Rush
Hour 2 which dropped to second and half of its audience,
but still made a large 33.1 million gross. In third was
The Princess Diaries with 14.2 million, while
newcomer The Others made a strong 14 million (I think
more people saw Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise avoiding each
other at the premiere). In fifth was Planet Of The
Apes, still holding on, with 13.3 million.
Sixth place saw Jurassic Park III with 7.5
million, and in seventh was Osmosis Jones with 5.2
million, that being a big disappointment and surely one of
this summer's bombs (and poor reviews didn't help either).
Finally, American's Sweethearts, Legally
Blonde and Original Sin round off this week's
list each with 4.4, 3.7 and 3 million, respectively. Next
week, a few more films open, including the comedy Rat
Race (which I saw, it's hiarlious. Don't miss it and may
good word of mouth give it a strong box office hopefully!).
As far as site news goes, there's some noteworthy reviews
to check out. I covered last Spring's flop
Josie
and the Pussycats, while Ren takes a look at
Extreme
Limits (never heard of it? You're not the only one). And
last but not least, Anthony takes a GIANT look at the
musical
Paint
Your Wagon, be sure to check that one out!
