"Bad" Debut
Once again,
The Sum Of
All Fears
topped the box office with a little dip but still a strong
showing, making 19.2 million this weekend. The film should
pass 100 million within the coming weeks and is a nice way
for Paramount to start out the summer. In second was
Divine
Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Given the large following of the
book and the female demographics, it debuted quite nicely
with 16.1 million. In third, Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The
Clones took
another dip with 14 million. And Bad Company, the delayed Chris Rock and Anthony
Hopkins spectale from Joel Schumacher lived up to its name
with a mere 11 million opening and harsh reviews. Looks like
the film lives up to its title... also still performing well
but crawling down is Spider-Man, now the fifth highest domestic
grossing film of all time, taking in 10.3 million this
weekend.
Spirit: Stallion
Of The Cimarron did continue to perform well, making
another 9.3 million. Undercover Brother dropped a tiny bit but is
doing fairly well, this weekend taking in 7.3 million.
Finally, Insomnia, Enough and About A Boy took deep dips each respectively
making 6.1, 3.7 and 2.6 million each.
Next weekend we'll
see Matt Damon compete with buddy Affleck in his own action
thriller, "The Bourne Identity" and the live action "Scooby
Doo" finally hits the big screen. Will be interesting how
those perform...
