Weekend Box Office
Pearl Harbor was first again... barely edging out
Shrek which was in second. However, "Pearl Harbor"
did take a pretty big dive and as I previously predicted, I
think it will die off fairly quickly. "Harbor" made 29.6
over the weekend while "Shrek" made 28.2.
Three new openings finished off the top five. The Rob
Schneider comedy The Animal bowed in third with an
impressive 19.6. Moulin Rouge expanded theaters over
the weekend and made a hefty 13.7 (a Fox executive expected
said he would "faint deleriously" if it opened wide with
over 10 million). What's The Worst That Could Happen?
also made a surprisingly strong debut for fifth with
thirteen million.
In sixth, The Mummy Returns held on with 7.8
million. A Knight's Tale made 3.4, while Bridget
Jones's Diary kept at eight with two million. Angel
Eyes and Memento rounded out the top ten with 1.9
and 1.1 million each.
