"Shrek" It Out
After much heavy hype, Dreamworks' crtically acclaimed
(though I felt overrated) Shrek opened first with a
hefty 42.3 million for first place. Looks like another
winner for Dreamworks, who previously teamed up with PDI for
"Antz", which made nearly 100 million dollars during October
1998.
The Mummy Returns fell to second with a nice 20.4
million. In third was A Knight's Tale with 10.4,
followed by newcomer Angel Eyes with 9.2 and
Bridget Jones's Diary with 3.7 million.
But that's not all! Along Came A Spider continued
to hang on at sixth with 2.4, followed by Driven
and Blow, each with 1.8 and 1.4 million. Spy
Kids and Momento tied for last place, each with
1.3 million.
Next week's number one movie? Why are you even asking
that? Two words: PEARL HARBOR. See you then to see if
it breaks any records...
