"King" Of The Weekend, 500 reviews

It seems that the unofficial start to the summer movie season just gets earlier and earlier. No matter though for Universal, who, thanks to their "Mummy" fanbase and The Rock fans everywhere were probably happy with The Scorpion King, a spin-off of their new franchise, which topped the box office in first place with a mighty 36 million. Quite nice indeed!

In second place was last week's champ (and one of my favorite movies of the year so far) Changing Lanes with a steady 11 million. Newcomer Sandra Bullock thriller Murder By Numbers was third with 9.3 while The Rookie and Panic Room made 6.3 and 6 million each.

Ice Age took in another 5.9 million, followed by The Sweetest Thing and High Crimes with 5.1 and 3.9 million, respectively. Finally, Clockstoppers and Frailty took in another 2.8 and 2.1 in their total grosses.

And yes... another DVDlaunch landmark as you may have noticed. The site now features over 500 reviews! Yay! Not bad at all, and 500 is some nice, magical number for whatever reason... so we're halfway there toward the 1000 mark. I'd like to thank my wonderful staff for turning in reviews, and I think with new members who have joined the staff, we can expect a larger review output. My goal is to reach over 700 reviews by the end of August in time for our two year anniversay, so thanks for reading and stay tuned!
