"Time" For First
The updated, loose
make version of The Time Machine opened in first place this
past weekend with a surprisingly strong 22.6 million.
Directed by H.G. Wells' own grandson Simon, I suppose
delaying the flick from last fall to now paid off.
We Were
Soliders,
last week's number one film, went down to second but held
strong with 14.2 million. Newcomer action-comedy
All About
The Benjamins also did remarkable well, taking in
10 million. Finally for the top five, 40 Days and 40 Nights
and
John
Q. dropped
down with 7 million and 5.9 million each.
Return To Never
Land won't
quit, dropping down to six and taking in 4.4 million more.
Dragonfly continues to ride down the charts
with 4 million, while A Beautiful Mind took in 3.8 million more as
it quickly approaches the 150 million mark. Rounding this
week's top ten off was Big Fat Liar and the fantasy epic The Lord Of The Rings: The
Fellowship Of The Ring with 3.4 and 2.6 million each.
And yes, that time
is coming... the Academy Awards®! Wow, nominations seem
like such a short time ago. But tune back next week where I
and my staff will attempt to pick the winners. Stay tuned
for that!
