X Gonna Give It To Ya
You just can't keep
an action movie down. Even though the reviews were less than
stellar, the latest Warner Bros. Spring action film
(following in the tradition of "Romeo Must Die" and "Exit
Wounds" - hey, they're even all by the same director)
Cradle 2 The
Grave had
an impressive opening of 16.5 million. Also holding up quite
well (good word of mouth probably helps) was the college
comedy Old
School with
a very strong 14 million. Daredevil has lost a bit of its luster as it
slips down to third with 11.1 million, but should cross the
100 million mark within the month.
Also still
performing well is How To Lose A Guy In 10
Days with
10.2 million. Chicago is also holding rather steady with 7.8
million, and it crossed the 100 million dollar mark this
weekend. The
Jungle Book 2 brought in 6.9 million while
Shanghai
Knights
took home another 5 million as it edges out the gross of the
original film.
Rounding out the
top ten were The Life Of David Gale (4.5 million),
Gods and
Generals
(2.9 million) and The Recruit (2.7 million). Yet as the spring batch
of films open up, will Steve Martin and Queen Latifah be
able to bring down the house on DMX and Jet Li next weekend?
Stay tuned DVD fans...
