(Nearly) 50 First Million
As expected, Adam
Sandler took the 4-day President's Day holiday by storm with
his latest romantic comedy, 50 First Dates. Reviews
were mixed, but audiences apparently really wanted to check
out the re-teaming of Sandler with this "Wedding Singer"
co-star, Drew Barrymore. The film brought in a very strong
45.1 million, and should be the first film of 2004 to cross
the 100 million dollar mark.
Holding strong too
over the long weekend was the hockey film Miracle,
adding another 17 million to its total score. Right behind
it was Barbershop 2: Back In Business with another
16.5 million. Pretty far off into the distance was You
Got Served with another 6 million, while The
Butterfly Effect and Catch That Kid trailed with
5.9 and 5.8 million, respectively.
Along Came Polly
crossed 80 million dollars thanks to its 5.4 million
haul, while The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King
took in another 5 million. Rounding out the top ten was
Mystic River with 4 million and Cold Mountain
with 3.9 million.
