Top Cut
The sequel to
2002's biggest sleeper, Barbershop 2: Back In Business
took the top spot over the weekend at the box office
with a very impressive 24.2 million. Opening to some pretty
nice reviews, and with the spin-off feature "Beauty Shop" on
its way to theaters this Thanksgiving, MGM has a nice new
franchise on its hands.
In second place was
the critically hailed sports drama Miracle, starring
the always wonderful Kurt Russell. The film scored a nice
19.3 million, and should have good word of mouth to sustain
itself on the charts. Last week's surprise winner, You
Got Served, fell down to third with 7.5 million. In
fourth place was Along Came Polly with 6.8 million
and in fifth The Butterfly Effect with 6.5
million.
The third and last
new release of the weekend, the kid heist film Catch That
Kid scored 5.8 million at the box office. The Lord Of
The Rings: The Return Of The King passed 350 million
over the weekend by adding 4.2 million to its tally while
Mystic River, high on its Oscar buzz, took in another
3.6 million. Right behind it was Monster which also
took a big leap due to Oscar nods with 3.5 million and
finally, Cold Mountain with 3.2 million.
Next weekend - will
Adam Sandler start to close down the barbershop? As always,
stay tuned DVD fans.
