You Got... Served?
On the usually slow
weekend of Super Bowl Sunday, there was a surprising bright
spot. The urban dance film You Got Served, starring
the now broken up pop group B2K, grossed an incredibly
impressive 16.1 million dollars. Given its low budget, the
film has already made some kind of profit. Could this be the
first sleeper hit of the year? Perhaps...
In the second was
last week's winner, the psychological/sci-fi thriller The
Butterfly Effect making 9.5 this weekend. Right under it
was Along Came Polly with 9.3 million, while The
Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King took in
another 5.3 million and has now topped "The Two Towers" in
domestic grosses.
Another newcomer
this weekend, The Perfect Score, was far from perfect
by bringing in a meager 4.8 million. Big Fish begins
to drown as it made 4.5 this weekend, while Mystic River
shot up a few spots thanks to its recent Oscar
nominations with 4.3 million.
Rounding out the
top ten were Cheaper By The Dozen (4.28 million), the
romantic comedy bomb Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!
(4.21 million) and Miramax's once-great Oscar hope,
Cold Mountain (4 million).
