The Reign Is Over
The reign of the
King is over. Over the long weekend, the Ben Stiller comedy
Along Came Polly brought in a whopping 32 million at
the box office and set records as one of the biggest January
openers of all time. Coming in a pretty distant second was
The Lord Of The Rings: The Return of The King with
12.4 million and literally right behind was Big Fish
with 12.3 million. Cheaper By The Dozen took in
another 11.8 million.
The critically
lambasted Torque took in a respectable 11.4 million
for fifth place, while Cold Mountain took in another
7.9 million. Something's Gotta Give made 6.7 over the
weekend and cracked 100 million, while My Baby's Daddy
made 4.4 million.
Rounding out the
top ten were Calendar Grils with 3.8 million and
The Last Samurai with 3.7 million. And even though it
was the best reviewed film of the weekend, the animated
Teacher's Pet couldn't crack the top ten and brought
in only 3.6 million (America sucks sometimes, I know). Based
on the Emmy award winning show, a DVD release of the movie
is already planned for sometime in June.
With a few major
releases next weekend, can any of these films hold their
weight on the charts? Stay tuned, DVD fans!
